The wood is to be found in a scenic wooded valley formed by the Bride river. The Bride is a tributary of the mighty Munster Blackwater that enters the sea at Youghal. Historically, the area was the heartland of the O’ Keeffe clan until the time of Cromwell. Leading from the area & running westwards along the river is a famine relief road.
